What to Expect

  • A personal 10–15 day trial using a Stelo CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitor)
  • Education on using CGMs and placing them appropriately
  • Guidance on interpreting CGM data and troubleshooting issues
  • Ongoing troubleshooting and support throughout the experience from Dr. Ioerger
  • An optional virtual group debrief session (Session 2) to reflect on the experience, learn about more in-depth data analysis, and share key takeaways

Session 1 - Monday, August 3, 6-8 PM (In-Person)

  • Overview of Stelo biosensor application & phone integration
  • Confirmation of desire to try Stelo
  • Application of Stelo biosensor
  • Overview of innovative & holistic care models
  • Discussion of CGM use in health promotion
  • Education on biosensor care, maintenance, and usage
  • Introduction to the Stelo app and its features
  • Guidance on interpreting readings and recognizing patterns for actionable insights

Optional
Session 2 - Tuesday, August 11, 6-8 PM (Virtual)

  • Check-in on experiences with Stelo
  • Education on CGM data analysis and interpretation
  • Discussion of identified patterns and insights
  • Reflection on lessons learned during the experience
  • Addressing any outstanding questions
  • Wrap-up and final thoughts

Non-Medical Group Education

This is an educational group workshop using an over-the-counter device. The purpose of this workshop is provide a hands-on learning experience to help medical students increase their familiarity with CGM technology. The purpose is not to evaluate, diagnose, or treat any medical conditions. Due to the group setting, confidentiality of personal health information cannot be guaranteed during discussions. However, private consultations will be offered for any sensitive concerns or issues, either in-person, by phone, or via Zoom.

Stelo Glucose Biosensor System

Stelo is a small, wearable biosensor that provides 24/7 glucose monitoring for up to 15 days. It is waterproof up to 8 feet for 24 hours. This allows you to run, workout, swim, shower, and take a bath without compromising its ability to function.

Indications for Use: The Stelo Glucose Biosensor System is an over-the-counter (OTC) integrated Continuous Glucose Monitor (iCGM) intended to continuously measure, record, analyze, and display glucose values in people 18 years and older not on insulin. The Stelo Glucose Biosensor System helps to detect normal (euglycemic) and low or high (dysglycemic) glucose levels. The Stelo Glucose Biosensor System may also help the user better understand how lifestyle and behavior modification, including diet and exercise, impact glucose excursion. The user is not intended to take medical action based on the device output without consultation with a qualified healthcare professional.

Contraindications: No MRI/CT/diathermy – MR unsafe.


Warnings:

i. This device has a choking hazard.

ii. Don't use if you have problematic hypoglycemia.

iii. Don't use if you are on dialysis.

iv. Don't ignore low/high symptoms and don’t change medications; consult your healthcare

provider.
